David Huan (Head Coach & Club Director)
For over 20 years, David has successfully coached and managed youth volleyball programs across the Bay Area. As one of the founders and club directors of Red Rock Volleyball Club, he has strived to deliver a first-class experience and develop athletes to their full potential. Since 2006, over 90 teams in his club programs have qualified for Junior Olympics/Nationals.
Last season David coached the 13s team in Danville and in its first year the team qualified for USAV Junior Nationals in Indianapolis, IN. Prior to the pandemic, David coached 18 club teams on the Peninsula over the course of 12 years across the 12-18s age groups—all of whom qualified for Junior Olympics/Junior Nationals. In 2018, his 18U team finished 3rd with a bronze medal at Jr Nationals. Prior to that, in 2017 and 2016, his 18U teams qualified for 18 Open and both finished 11th. During that span, those teams also won NCVA Regional Championships, and earned 5 medals in the Open Divisions at prominent National Qualifiers and Tournaments.

Most of his teams have finished top 5 in the region, with several 1st place finishes, along with a number of medal finishes at Triple Crown NIT, Far Western, Pacific Northwest, and Colorado Crossroads Qualifiers.
David has also coached at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. He most recently led the varsity program at St. Ignatius College Prep with his wife Marietta, as they took over the program in 2016 and finished 3rd in State in the Open Division ranking 1st in their state division, and a final 27th place National Ranking with a team that previously finished ranked 447th. Following that year, he was named Mercury News’ Coach of the Year. In 2017, SI once again qualified for the State Open Division and ranked 2nd in their state division.
As a transplant from Southern California, David graduated from the University of California-Berkeley, and has enjoyed living in the Bay Area ever since. For more than a decade, he worked in the digital education industry and was part of a groundbreaking staff at Stanford University. During his free time, David enjoys daytrading on early weekday mornings, is an avid sports fan, and travels with his family. In 2017, he and his family moved to the Tri-Valley area and established Red Rock in the East Bay. Post-pandemic, they are planning to lay a foundation for a competitive club in the LaMorinda/Walnut Creek/Tri-Valley area in coming years.

Wayne Yamamoto (Assistant Coach)
Wayne joined Red Rock in 2018 and is the current girl’s varsity assistant coach at Miramonte High School. Last season Wayne coached the 14-2 team in Danville that finished the season in the top 20 in Northern California. Wayne has 14 years of club coaching experience across all age groups in the tri-valley/lamorinda area and is highly respected by those that he has coached and mentored over the years. Wayne also spent 11 years coaching for the girl’s program at Monte Vista in Danville, including JV girl’s head coach winning the season and top finishes in their tournaments, freshman head coach, and first varsity assistant on the girl's varsity volleyball team.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, landscaping and construction.
15 David
William Gratteau (Assistant Coach)

William Gratteau will be starting his first year coaching at Red Rock. He has played 4 years of indoor volleyball and just recently graduate from Monte Vista High School. He played his club volleyball through Bay to Bay which is a boys club based out of San Jose and won a total of 6 medals in 4 years. He was a 3 year varsity starter as well as team captain, helping his high school team take second place in NCS his freshman year. In 2020 he made the all tournament team at nationals and helped lead his team to taking second place in the 17s divisions.
He has been coaching club volleyball for about 2 years now and is coaching the girls freshmen team at Cal High.
Will is continuing his college education to in psychology and hopes to transfer into a UC school in the next two years. In his spare time he loves hanging out with his friends traveling, playing golf, and going to the beach.
15 Eden
Eden Fukushima (Head Coach)
This is Eden’s first year with Red Rock, but her fourth season coaching club volleyball. While in college, she assistant coached the 14s team at Main Beach, and 16s at Vision Volleyball Club. She is also currently the eighth grade girls and boys coach at Benicia Middle School.
Eden grew up in Benicia, and was a 3 time letter winner. During her high school career, she helped the team go undefeated in league all 3 years. She was named back to back MVP in 2013 and 2014, and earned all conference honors. After high school, Eden continued her career at Cabrillo College where she led her team to win the CCCAA state championship as a freshman, and advance to the state tournament her sophomore year. She was recruited to play at San Francisco State, and led the team with 496 assists in 2017. She graduated summa cum laude in 2019 with a degree in communications, and now works as a long term substitute teacher.
Outside of volleyball, she enjoys traveling, writing, and spending time with friends and family.
15 Eden
Chanavy Mey (Assistant Coach)
Chanavy is starting his first year coaching at Red Rock. She has been playing indoor volleyball for 6 years and recently playing beach volleyball for over 1 year now. In beach she won first place in a NCVA beach volleyball tournament, placed 2nd in a Girls 18U AVP One Star Qualifier Event and won a silver medal along with a bid to junior nationals, and placed 3rd for 18U Monterey Beach Open tournament.
In the past Chanavy has assisted the girls and boys indoor volleyball teams for middle school and was team manager for boys volleyball at Arroyo High School where she recently graduated. She attended Arroyo School from 2018-2022 and played volleyball all 4 years of high school.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking macarons and outdoor activities!
15 Eden
Joy Fukushima (Assistant Coach)

This will be Joy's first year coaching with Red Rock. For four years she was an assistant coach for the Benicia Middle School girls' volleyball team. This year she is the 6th/7th grade girls head coach and boys assistant coach.
She started playing volleyball when she was 11 years old, playing for both her middle school and high school teams as well as 7 years of club volleyball. During her high school career, she played as a setter and DS. And during her time at Cal Poly SLO, she continued to play recreationally on intramural teams.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, watching movies, and traveling.
15 Jenn
Jennifer Leighty Plumley (Head Coach)
Jennifer enters her 6th season coaching with Red Rock Volleyball Club and is currently the head varsity coach at Athenian High School. Jenn prides herself on ensuring players have the proper fundamentals to help advance their skills to the next level. Last season Jenn coached the 14-2 team in Danville that finished the season top 20 in Northern California!
Professionally, Jenn is the 3rd grade teacher at Sleepy Hollow. She obtained her teaching credential from Chapman University and spent the last 15 years living in the Lamorinda area and has 3 beautiful children who attend Del Rey, OIS, and Campolindo. When she’s not coaching or in the classroom or shuffling her children to their activities, you’ll probably find her at Starbucks enjoying a moment of caffeine.

Josh Edlinger (Assistant Coach)


Josh is new to the Red Rock family and is excited to be joining the coaching staff for the first time in the upcoming 2022-2023 season. Josh is currently coaching the JV team at Cal High School in San Ramon. He was an assistant coach for the girls’ varsity team at Acalanes from 2000-2001. He also coached Gold Medal Squared clinics for club teams and high schools around the country from 2005 to 2006.
Josh played at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, CA from 1998-2001, was on the JV team as a freshmen, and lettered in varsity his sophomore through senior years. Josh was second team all-league as a sophomore, first team all-league as a junior, and MVP of the league his senior year.
Josh also played club volleyball competitively in the Bay Area during his youth where his team went undefeated in NCVA and placed 9th at the Junior Olympics in Reno during his 17U Open Division year (2000). Josh was selected to the National All-Tournament team that summer. The following year, his 18-1 team team finished 11th at JOs in the 18 Open Division.
Josh was recruited as a middle blocker/outside hitter to compete at the Division I level at Brigham Young University 2001-2002 and played under Carl McGown (US National Team Coach with gold medals in the ’84, ’88, and ’08 Olympics), and later under Tom Peterson (NCAA Men’s Div. I Champs - Penn State ‘94, BYU ‘04) thereafter.
Josh took a break from volleyball after moving back to California to pursue a career in medicine, though he has been looking for more opportunities to get back in the gym and coach again. He is a double board-certified foot and ankle surgeon at Kaiser Permanente but will be transitioning to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation/Sutter (Dublin and Stanford-Valley Care) in the late Summer. Josh enjoys performing surgery, helping patients get well, and serving others in the community. He looks forward to helping out the upcoming generation of volleyball players at the high school and club levels achieve their goals and improve their game to new heights.
14 Marietta
Marietta Flynn (Head Coach & Club Director)

Marietta is a founder and club director of Red Rock Volleyball Club and Kai Beach Volleyball Club. Marietta oversees all Red Rock locations and is looking forward to delivering a first-class club program in the Tri-Valley/Lamorinda/Walnut Creek area that develops players to reach their full potential.
Marietta has been coaching and providing college recruiting assistance for 14 years and many of the players that she coached have gone to compete at the collegiate level including: USC, Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth, Yale, Brown, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Davis, Duke, Santa Clara, Notre Dame, San Diego St., LMU, Claremont McKenna, Michigan St., Fordham, Middlebury, Carnegie Mellon, Holy Cross, Colgate, and many others.
As a head coach in Redwood City for 10+ years where Red Rock was first established, Marietta qualified all her teams (14s-18s) for Junior Nationals in the Open or National division. Last season Marietta and her husband David started up a new Red Rock location in the TriValley area and in its inaugural season, she coached the 14-1 team that finished in gold (top 12) in the Northern California region. In past seasons, Marietta head coached the Red Rock 18-1 team that finished 1st in the Northern California region and had a terrific finish taking home the bronze medal at Junior Nationals. In the previous 2 seasons, she coached Red Rock 18-1 and both squads made very successful runs at Jr. Nationals with wins over the eventual gold medal winners and finishing 11th overall in the 18 open division. Some of Marietta's other past successes as a head coach include: multiple Open medal finishes at Triple Crown NIT, Far Western’s Qualifier, and Pacific Northwest Qualifier, winning the NCVA Regional Championship, top 3 finishes in the Northern California region each year, and a 5th place finish at Junior Nationals.
Marietta previously led the varsity program at St. Ignatius College Prep with her husband David from 2016-2018, taking over the program in 2016 finishing 3rd in State in the Open division and a 27th National Ranking with a team that in the previous year in 2015 was ranked 447th in the country.
Marietta was born and raised in Louisville, KY and New Albany, IN and the daughter of former professional basketball player, Mike Flynn. She won the Gold Medal at the 2000 USA Volleyball Junior Olympics playing for Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy (KIVA). She attended New Albany High School and was a four-year varsity volleyball player on her top 50 nationally-ranked team as an outside hitter. She led her team to a 28-3 record her senior year earning MVP in her league. In her graduating class of 700 students, she received the Overall Top Female Athlete Award and the Top Scholar-Athlete Award.
Marietta took a leap of faith after graduating high school and drove across the country to California, supporting herself financially and fully paying her way at Santa Clara University while also being a student-athlete. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance and played libero during her collegiate career. She is now a finance leader in the biotech industry serving as the Senior Director of Revenue at Iovance Biotherapeutics, a Certified Public Accountant, an entrepreneur and small business owner of Red Rock VBC, a volleyball coach, a loving wife, and the toughest job of all…a Mother. “Players often tell me they want to follow in my footsteps and to see them progress over the years on the court, in the classroom, in their professional careers, and in their personal life is the most rewarding aspect of my career. I want to continue to serve as an inspiration to all student-athletes.”
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, showering her two cats with endless love, and watching sports - Go Warriors!
14 Marietta
Cynthia Zhu (Assistant Coach)
Cynthia enters her 2nd season with Red Rock Volleyball Club. Last season Cynthia coached the 13s team in Danville and in its first year the team qualified for USAV Junior Nationals in Indianapolis, IN. Volleyball has been a part of her life since she was a freshman at Dougherty Valley High School in 2013. She continued her love for volleyball after high school, playing for San Jose State University’s women’s club volleyball team as a middle blocker, earning the All-League Team award during her final season. Cynthia began coaching at Dougherty Valley High School in April 2021 as the women's Junior Varsity coach and assistant coach for the women's Varsity team.
Cynthia was born in Vancouver, Canada, and was raised in many states across the U.S., including Delaware, California, and New Jersey. She attended Dougherty Valley High School from 2013-2017, earning the All-League First team award her Senior year. Cynthia graduated San Jose State University with a bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development. She is now pursuing her behavior technician certification, with a goal of assisting children diagnosed with ASD. She is also continuing her education in Child Life and aims toward becoming a certified child life specialist.
During her free time, Cynthia enjoys hiking, playing the piano, painting, spending time with her friends and family, and watching movies.

Ted Babu (Assistant Coach)

Ted has a great passion for working with young players interested in learning and improving their volleyball skills. He has coached teams ranging from Jr. high to high
school and club. He is currently the Director of Club V.I.P. and runs the recreational and competitive programs that are currently offered in 7 different cities. Ted's focus for this and every program is to help players reach their goals. He has done this with many players since 1997 and has been running Club V.I.P. since 2003.

13 Derick
Derick Canchola (Head Coach)


Derick head coached at Campolindo high school and led the JV girl's volleyball teams to an overall league record of 33-3 in 4 years. Derick was a 15's girls head club coach in the LaMorinda area for 6 years before joining Red Rock. He has also coached middle school for OIS and JM.
Derick graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep high school in 2016, where he played varsity volleyball, club volleyball, and was a manager who took stats and assisted at practices for the girl's volleyball teams. He earned his BS in psychology at Saint Mary's in 2020, where he also played DII volleyball for the NCCVL league as a setter.
Derick is now a graduate student at Saint Mary's pursuing his MA in Counseling, with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy/Professional Clinical Counseling, while assisting with volleyball at Campolindo High School.
In addition to coaching and promoting mental wellness, Derick loves to watch sports, go to the gym and take his golden retriever Maya on long walks!

Cherisse Dimalanta (Assistant Coach)
Cherisse is a Bay Area native and started playing volleyball at 10 years old. She has played over 6 seasons of club volleyball around the Bay Area, American Canyon High School, and Hawaii Pacific University. Cherisse was the assistant coach at her local middle school volleyball camps for 4 years, coached at Bay Area Volleyball Club for over a year assisting their Spring and Summer Beginner-Intermediate camps, and was the assistant coach for the 15/16 Premier team last season.
During her high school volleyball career at American Canyon High School, she played as a setter, DS, and outside hitter. Cherisse attended USAV’s High-Performance A3 camp in 2017 as a setter and was a three-year varsity starting setter and co-captain for two years. She held school records for career aces, was awarded All-League, a Player of the Year Finalist, and was voted Most Valuable Setter of the Year in the Solano County Athletic Conference. She was also American Canyon High School’s first volleyball college recruit to a four-year University where she played D2 as a DS/Libero at Hawaii Pacific University.
Cherisse is finishing up her senior year of college studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Psychology.
Jennifer Dorr

Jennifer Dorr is the former Associate Head Coach at Cal's Division I volleyball program and award-winning standout setter at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.
Dorr spent 4 seasons at Cal and in her previous three seasons, Dorr has directed the program's summer camps, overseeing and promoting the camps which draw about 400 players each summer.
Promoted to assistant coach in January of 2011, she was originally hired as Cal's Director of Operations on Feb. 5, 2009. In that role, she was responsible for planning team travel and maintaining the program's budget while serving as the team liaison with the academic, financial aid, and business offices. Dorr has also served as a co-head coach for the Golden Bear Volleyball Club 14-1 squad from 2009-10.
In April of both 2010 and 2011, Dorr worked the Junior National Team and High Performance Tryouts. Dorr was instrumental in the USA A2 team tryout in February 2011 as part of the statistical analysis team. Additionally, she served as an assistant coach and technical coordinator for the USA Junior National Team in July 2010 for the NORCECA Championships in Tijuana, Mexico, where the US team won Gold.
Prior to arriving at Cal, Dorr served as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Dorr arrived at Georgia Tech by way of Texas A&M, where she was the director of volleyball operations from 2005-06. During her time in College Station, Texas, she also worked as the tournament director for the 2005 NCAA College Station Regional and other home tournaments for the Aggies. While living in College Station, Dorr served as the head coach of the Brazos Valley Volleyball Club from 2005-06 and led her squad to a 27-2 record over two seasons. Her coaching experience extends further as she held a post as head coach for the Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club in Lake Forest, Calif. where she guided the team to a 32-3 record from 2004-05.
In 1999, Dorr was the starting setter for the Rainbow Wahine as a freshman where she earned All-Western Athletic Conference second-team honors. She helped lead Hawai'i to a 29-2 record, an NCAA regional semifinal appearance and a No. 8 final AVCA ranking in her first season. In her four-year career, Dorr took the Rainbow Wahine to two NCAA national semifinal appearances, two No. 3 rankings, and a 123-12 record. She earned All-WAC second team honors three times and finished her career ranked fourth all-time for Hawai'i with 3,540 assists. Dorr was selected to the WAC All-Academic team in each of her four years with the Rainbow Wahine.
Dorr graduated from Hawai'i with a degree in business administration in marketing in 2003. She then worked as a sales and marketing executive for KHNL and K5 Television in Honolulu before leaving the islands to play professional volleyball in the fall of 2004 with Brandenburg VCO in Berlin, Germany.
Dorr resides in Danville, Calif. with her husband, John, a former All-American swimmer at Cal. The couple has twin daughters, Lily and Piper.New Paragraph
Kim Eves

Kim is in her second year as the Men’s Assistant Volleyball Coach at San Ramon Valley High School, where she has enjoyed coaching her own son.
Kim was born and raised in Utah. She graduated from Taylorsville High School in Taylorsville, Utah. Kim was a four-sport high school athlete and was awarded Female Athlete of the Year her senior year. During high school she played club volleyball under the direction of Sam Atoa (Utah Valley University), Jason Watson (Arkansas), and Gary Mano (Stanford). She was grateful she heeded the advice of her high school coach, Cory Solomon (Bring It Promotions/Global Challenge Annual Volleyball Tournament Director) to play for Tom Peterson (currently at Southern Virginia University, multiple NCAA appearances and two national titles) when he took the coaching position at Salt Lake Community College. Kim lead the Bruin’s as a setter under Tom’s direction and later worked alongside him at Nike and community volleyball camps. Kim was awarded the 1997-1998 Junior College Distinguished Academic All-American. After SLCC, Kim went on to play two more years at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Kim helped lead the team to a Sun Belt Conference Championship and NCAA appearance in 1998. A back injury in 1999 limited her play, but the team still shared the regular season title. In 2000, Kim was awarded the Sunbelt Conference Medallion Award—In Recognition of Superior Achievements in Academics and Athletics.
Kim graduated from UALR with a degree in Mathematics. She continued her education at the University of Utah earning an MBA. While working on her MBA, Kim was the head volleyball coach at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah. She led the girls varsity team to their most successful seasons and a 6th in State finish. Kim took a break from coaching and focused on raising her young family after they relocated to Santa Clara, California and while they lived overseas. Upon returning to the states, as a mother of five young children, she coached her oldest daughter’s club team with kids in tow. Now that her children are a little older, and showing interest in the sport, Kim is enjoying getting back into coaching the sport she loves.
Kim works part-time from home as an office/accounting manager. She loves living in the Bay Area with her husband, Mason, and five children. In her spare time, she enjoys coaching her children in various sports (soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball), running Girl Scout meetings, traveling, giving back to her community, baking, and spending quality time with her family.
Mona Fox
Mona attended college at Oklahoma City University while it was still classified as a NCAA Div 1 sport’s affiliate. As a Freshman she earned the distinction of being the only walk-on player for the girls volleyball team that season. The connection between mind, body, and spirit has been woven into her life ever since early college days into a long career in the healing arts. With NCBTM credentials Mona has worked for several Chiropractic offices, Elisa’s Health Spa, Crunch Fitness and now within her own private practice.
When she moved to Walnut Creek with her family, enrolled her daughters in the local LMYA league and agreed to be a coach. For four years her teams finished among the top teams for their season, including a first place win and a near perfect record, losing only one set the whole season. Transitioning into club volleyball she is now looking forward to working with Red Rocks Pebbles Fall Ball program in Danville. She’s also one of the Stanley Middle School girls volleyball coaches this year. She will also be an assistant coach for the Red Rock teams this coming Fall. Mona has a strong commitment to developing fundamentals of volleyball along with building confidence and developing character which translates both on and off the court.
Brianna Karsseboom
Brianna Karsseboom began coaching at Red Rock in the summer of 2019. She is also a Red Rock alumni and played for coaches Marietta Flynn and David Huan from 2011-2015. She coached at Five Starz Volleyball club from 2015-2019 for the 11s and 15s teams. One of Brianna’s main goals is to encourage young girls to believe in themselves and their abilities. She was a special guest speaker at Red Rock’s annual collegiate coaching camp providing guidance and inspiration to the next generation of student-athletes looking to play at the collegiate level.
During her time as a player at Red Rock, she was the team captain and qualified for Junior Nationals every year in both the Open and National Divisions. Brianna led her 18-1 team to an 11th place finish with wins over the eventual gold medal winners. In 2013, she led her 16-1 team to a top 5 finish in the National Division, and was named to the National All-Tournament Team.
Brianna was born and raised in the Bay Area. She attended Bishop O’Dowd High School from 2015-2019, where she was a 4 year varsity player. As a senior, she hit 228 kills for a .390 average, earning her All-West Alameda County - Foothill League first-team honors for a third straight season. As a junior, she was First-team All-East Bay recipient, during which she hammered out 400 kills. She was also featured on the cover of Sports Starz Magazine.
After high school, Brianna continued her volleyball career at the University of California Davis. She joined their Division 1 NCAA volleyball team in the summer of 2015 as an outside hitter. She appeared in a total of 106 matches over the course of her four years. Some other career highlights include: Tournament MVP of UNLV Invitational (8/25-8/26), mostly due to 13-2-24 (.458) vs. Binghamton. Had 10 matches with double-digit kills, including season-high 17 at Cal State Fullerton (10/14). Finished preseason with 15-1-36 (.389) and 13 digs in three-set sweep of Houston Baptist (9/15) at UT Arlington Invitational, earning her a second all-tournament nod.
Off the court, Brianna was very focused on her academics. In 2019 she earned a B.S. in Managerial Economics, with a focus in Business Management. She landed a job right after college in the financial services field, where she utilized her skills/qualities from being a student athlete and applied them to a professional workplace.
Brianna currently lives in Danville, where she is close to her family. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, golfing, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
