Derick Canchola

Derick coached the 13-1 team at Red Rock in his first year with the club.  Prior to that, he was a head coach at Campolindo High School, and led the JV girls' volleyball teams to an overall league record of 33-3 in 4 years. Derick also served as head coach for 15U club teams in the LaMorinda area for 6 years.  He has also coached middle school girls volleyball for Stanley, OIS and JM.


Derick graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep in 2016, where he played varsity volleyball, club volleyball, and was team manager who took stats and assisted at practices for the girls' volleyball teams. He earned his BS in psychology at Saint Mary's in 2020, where he also played DII volleyball for the NCCVL league as a setter.  Derick is now a graduate student at Saint Mary's pursuing his MA in Counseling, with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy/Professional Clinical Counseling, while assisting with volleyball at Campolindo High School.

In addition to coaching and promoting mental wellness, Derick loves to watch sports, go to the gym and take his golden retriever Maya on long walks!
