Nicolas Whitacre has made significant contributions to the volleyball community through both his coaching and playing careers. 

As a coach, Nick served as the JV head coach and assistant varsity coach for the Northgate Men's Volleyball program from 2020 to 2023, during which the team achieved notable successes including reaching the NCS Semifinals in 2022 and finishing as NCS runner-up in 2023.  He also coached the girls' frosh program, demonstrating his commitment to developing young talent.

In 2023, Nicolas joined Vibe Volleyball Club as a coach, initially leading fall ball clinics and subsequently taking on coaching roles for various teams including 11’s, 15-1s as an assistant coach, and head coach of their 14-2s team.  His coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, physical conditioning, mental preparation, and team building, with a primary goal of instilling a genuine passion for the sport in each athlete under his guidance.

Nicolas's playing career is equally distinguished, having started in club volleyball at the age of eleven. He competed at a high club and national level, representing clubs such as Diablo, BAVC, and Pacific Rim, where he served as captain for 8 out of 10 teams. His versatility on the court was showcased through his proficiency in positions including libero, setter, and outside hitter. Noteworthy achievements during his playing career include:

• Freshman year at De La Salle: Varsity team member, NCS 2nd Place
• Sophomore year at De La Salle: NCS Semifinals
• Junior year at Northgate: First Team All-League, NCS 2nd Place with Pacific Rim 17-1 team
• Senior year at Northgate: Despite challenges due to Covid, Nicolas played with Pacific Rim 18-1 team, securing first place at the So-Cal Winter Classic.

Nick's dedication to volleyball, both as a player and coach, underscores his passion for the sport and commitment to achieving excellence at all levels.
